Before we dive into the topic of story telling. We need to understand the topics such as persuasion which is directly correlated with our topic story telling.

Q1. What persuade the people ?
Answer: Without any doubt we can say that. It is trust, logic, and fun. Let's discuss it one by one:
  • Trust: It should not be trick or prank. It should be genuine.
  • Logic: There should be logic in your argument.
  • Fun: Sounds fun and appealing.
Questions to answer in order to be more persuasive.
  • Who are you ?
  • What do you want ?
  • Why would I agree?
  • What's in it for me?
Let's discuss above questions one by one :
1. Who are you ?
Answer: Indicate your identity using your company name and designation.

2. What do you want?
Answer: Be specific in your answer. You should have clear objective (SMART Objective).

3. Why would I agree?
Answer: List down the benefits of your offerings. elaborate your options.

4. What's in it for me ?
Answer: Describe rewards and promotions.

How to become the persuasive speaker ?

To become persuasive speaker, AIEOUxE framework can be used which is used in Book "What to say and When to Shut up" by Rakesh Godhwani.

A: Attention
  • Capture the audience attention.
  • Attention is greatest in the first 3-8 seconds.
  • Say something impactful to grab attention.
E: Example
  • Present data facts arguments.
  • Keep it simple.
  • e.g., India will be youngest country by 2025. (correct way to say).
  • By 2025 the median age of India will be 29. (complex way to say). People will have hard time to understanding it.
I: 'I" Factor
  • Demonstrate your credibility.
  • Use past experiences and case studies.
O: Objective
  • S.M.A.R.T objective which are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
U: 'You' factor
  • Indicate the benefits to the audience.
  • Answer "What's in it for me ?".
E: Emotions
  • Bring out emotions in your speech.
  • Be a storyteller.
Keep in mind the following framework for speech writing:
  • Audience-Objective-Message(AOM)
  • Opening-Body-Conclusion(OBC)
  • AEIUxE Framework.
Remember:
  • Hone your strengths.
  • Take Feedback.
  • keep doing practice.
  • Do not give up.
